“‘Democracy Demands Wisdom’: The Role of State Humanities Councils in the American Model”

 

GreenfieldBriann Greenfield is executive director of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities which is the New Jersey state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. In this position she is, among other things, responsible for developing and implementing strategies to develop new audiences for the humanities as well as establishing new fundraising and communication operations. As a professor of History at Central Connecticut State University she focused on Public History and Museum Studies in her research, teaching, and in community projects. Her publications include the book Out of the Attic: Inventing Antiques in Twentieth-Century New England (U of Massachusetts Press, 2009) and book co-authored with Mary Donohue, entitled A Life of the Land: Connecticut’s Jewish Farmers (2010).
